The Farm

Flat Rock Farm is set on an historic property - the main house dates back to the very early 1700's and the property itself was part of a land grant from the King of England in 1694! The town of Lyme itself is an early settlement and dates back to 1665.

The main house on the Flat Rock Farm property remained in the same family from 1694 until 1974 when a local housewright purchased the main house and commenced a restoration project that the current owner continues to this day. In the interim, barns were raised, the rough outline of the guest house completed and the well built outer barn was constructed.

Flat Rock Farm is back to being a working farm and, as such, the current owner has added to the initial project and added a new barn to house the chickens, cedar fencing to secure the alpaca and separate the guest house from the field, endless landscaping projects including an orchard, raised perennial garden beds, and a Japanese Maple garden, all very much still works in progress.
